Phy101 Gdb 1 Solution Spring 2022 students are advised that the Graded Discussion Forum (GDB) will open on Monday 15 August 2022 and close on Tuesday 16 August 2022.
Phy101 Gdb 1 Solution Spring 2022
The discussion topic is:
Is it possible that a constant magnetic field has the ability to change the speed of a charged particle? Either yes or no, explain it with logical reasoning.
Write to the point, avoid unnecessary explanations.
Phy101 Gdb 1 Solution Spring 2022 Please check the solution before submitting.
No, it is not conceivable that a constant magnetic field would have the ability to change the velocity of a charged particle.
Phy101 Gdb 1 Solution Spring 2022
Reason:
This is because the magnetic field does not affect the velocity because the magnetic field exerts a force perpendicular to the velocity. Therefore, no force can act on the particle. As a result, the particle cannot change its kinetic energy. So it cannot change speed.
Interestingly, the force acting on a charged particle is always perpendicular to the direction in which it is moving. Thus, magnetic forces cause charged particles to change their direction of motion, but do not change the speed of the particle. It is not possible to change the speed of a particle in a magnetic field because the magnetic field does not act on the charged particle.

Instruction:-
• Check your GDB carefully before submitting, as it cannot be replaced once submitted.
• Your discussion must be based on the logical aspects of the topic requirements with proper justification.
• There is a 100 word limit for discussion.
• Use “Times New Roman” font style and “12” font size.
• Your answer should be relevant to the topic, ie clear and concise.
• Do not copy or share your answers with other students. Two identical/duplicated comments will be marked with a zero (0) and may hurt your course grade.
• Books, websites and other reading materials may be consulted before your comments are published; but copying or reproducing text from books, websites and other reading materials is strictly prohibited. Such comments will be marked as zero (0) even if you provide references.
Additional PHY101 GDB instructions
• You should post your answer in the Graded Discussion Forum (GDB), not the Moderated Discussion Forum (MDB). Both will run side by side in parallel for the duration stated above. Therefore, due care will be required.
• Obnoxious or rude responses should be strictly avoided.
• After the deadline, you cannot participate in the discussion via email.
• Queries/inquiries regarding GDB content that students may send to MDB or via email will not be answered until the GDB due date has passed.
• To plan your semester activities in an organized manner, we recommend that you view the schedule of upcoming assignments, quizzes and GDBs on the overview tab on the course website at VU-LAM.
