The challenge is offered to more than 180 countries under bilateral agreements, multilateral mechanisms, and special agreements. More than 70 Mexican Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) participate in the program and all have academic programs registered with the National Quality Postgraduate Program (PNPC) of the National Council for Science and Technology (CONACYT). The scholarship provides selected applicants with the necessary funds to complete their studies.

Benefits of Mexican Government Scholarships

Fully funded, this Mexican Government Scholarship 2024 will provide successful applicants with the following benefits:

  • For Bachelor’s level, Specialization, Master’s degree or Master’s level research residency, a monthly maintenance amount of 4 (four times) the monthly value of the Unit of Measurement and Update (UMA), currently equivalent to 11,700.36 Mexican pesos per month. UMA is subject to changes stipulated by law (Maintenance is delivered at the end of the month).
  • For PhD fellowships, doctoral and postdoctoral research fellowships, medical specialties and subspecialties, a monthly maintenance amount of 5 (five) times the monthly value (UMA), currently equivalent to 14,625.45 Mexican pesos.
  • Enrollment and tuition in accordance with the program provisions of each Mexican educational institution.
  • Health insurance through the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS), valid starting from the seventh month of the scholarship and with a duration corresponding to the duration of the scholarship awarded.

Exemption from Mexican Visa Costs.

International air travel after satisfactory completion of the scholarship. The ticket will be provided in economy class and according to the flight route designated for AMEXCID as best as possible. See the list of countries to which this benefit will be granted.

Any change that the scholarship recipient wishes to make to the ticket purchased by AMEXCID after it has been issued will be paid for by the applicant. If studies are conducted outside of Mexico City, transportation from Mexico City to the host city of the receiving academic institution and back to Mexico City at the end of the academic activities with a successful outcome will be covered.

For trips from Mexico City to the city where the higher education institution (IES) is located, the distance by land is less than 5 (five) hours, as well as for those transfers that do not have an air route from the city from Mexico, transportation will be country. Trips longer than 5 (five) hours will be covered by air from Mexico City, in which case AMEXCID will purchase the ticket. Eligibility for a Mexican Government Scholarship.

To apply for Mexican Government Scholarship 2024, a candidate must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a national of one of the eligible countries listed above
  • have the bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral degree required to obtain the degree for which the scholarship is sought.
  • achieve a minimum grade point average of 85 (on a scale of 0 to 100 or 8.5 on a scale of 10) or its equivalent in the most recently completed academic degree.
  • have a minimum Spanish level of B2 within the Common European Framework of Reference.
  • Applicants will be selected without discrimination on the basis of ethnicity, gender, age, disability, social status, medical condition, religion, sexual views or preferences, marital status or any other situation and/or condition that violates human dignity and aims to nullify or harms the rights and freedoms of individuals and will be subject to the following criteria:
  • Applicant’s background of academic excellence.
  • History of working as a teacher or researcher in public universities and scientific research centers in the country of origin.
  • Choice of study or research in institutions located in the inland states of the Republic of Mexico.
  • Preference will be given to studies of social care, science and technology, sports, tourism, culture and education, humanitarian aid.
  • Preference will be given to an applicant who has never had an AMEXCID scholarship.

All individuals who fall into the following categories are not eligible to apply for the AMEXCID Scholarship.

  1. Foreign diplomats accredited in Mexico, as well as their families;
  2. Aliens in Mexico who do NOT have temporary resident status in Mexico;
  3. Aliens who are also Mexican nationals, including the child of a Mexican father or mother;
  4. Foreign nationals who have or wish to obtain a Mexican family visa.
  5. Applicants who have received a scholarship in the immediately preceding year from any federal government institution.
  6. If you have a scholarship awarded by any dependency of the Government of Mexico.
